In October, we attended the Hilton Apple Festival as we have done about a dozen or so times over the years. It's a favorite of mine because of the overall atmosphere, good fun and terrific people.
The entire festival is organized beautifully, from the easy and plentiful parking, to police and medical personnel at every corner. Of course there were the many craft and art vendors, every food item you can want, a variety of entertainment, and wide open spaces. I particularly like the idea that pets are not allowed (service animals accepted). I noted that most all of the vendors are individual entrepreneurs or civic organizations, young folks supported by adults earning funds for travel, meeting, etc. during the balance of the year and this frames the entire event.
There is always a wide range of musical entertainment at the gazebo stage to the larger stages. My favorite was Herb Gross and the Invictas, a revival band from the 60's, and they still have fun and make good music.
I missed the car show this year, but would absolutely recommend that exhibit for everyone as well.
Oh, did I mention the apples? Apple pie, apple sauce, apple fritters, apple crumble, apple juice, apple everything, including apple bobbing. It's a wonderful outdoor celebration of the agricultural center in this community. There is no admission fee and no parking fee, (and you get to ride the free school bus shuttle). There is no charge for entertainment and all the food and beverage vendors had established very fair prices.
The event is generally scheduled for early October. I recommend it.
